Topic: Power To Overcome

Text:  "Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the
daughter of Babylon" (Zechariah 2:7).

There is something that happens inside your
heart when you overcome something yourself,
with the Lord’s help of course. Sure, we all need
prayer from trusted friends, and we need other
believers for accountability in our Christian walk.
We certainly don’t want to discount
the importance of those things. However, when
you overcome common bad habits, deficits
brought on by your upbringing, or even sin
patterns, and you do it from your own resolve
with God, it does something to your stamina. No
one bailed you out or did anything to help you. It
is similar to when you buy a house or something
that you worked hard to save money for. You
work harder to protect your investment.
Self deliverance is the same. The Lord prophesied
through Zechariah that God wanted Zion to
deliver themselves from the bondages of
Babylon,
even though they were still living there. Babylon
represents a type of the world. God wanted them
to stay free from the worldly culture even though
they lived among that culture, and He wanted
them to do it with their own internal resolve.
If you have some areas that you want to be free
from, like all of us do, and you don’t want things
that weigh you down to keep holding you back,
then make some determined steps for self-
deliverance. It will prepare you for great things
and boost your spiritual confidence.

PRAYER

Lord, I receive the power to overcome today,
I commit to making some steps to further
deliver myself from worldly ties. Show me areas
where I need to shake free, and I thank You for
helping me walk it out so I have confidence for
the next level. Amen.
