TOPIC: FROM SURVIVING TO THRIVING

TEX: “Increase….and possess the land (Deut.8:1)

After 400 years of slavery God handed the Israelites the legal document to a flourishing, plentiful land. They have something they could call their own. Up until that time everything they own has been provided for by their Egyptian captors. Slavery had crushed their will and destroyed their initiatives; 



consequently God had to break them of their reliance on the people rather than on Him (People dependency can make you vulnerable and stunt your growth), So when God led the Israelites into the wilderness and the leaks and onions they enjoy in Egypt were gone, they were forced to develop an appetite for Manna; something only God can provide! Understand this: when God takes away an old source or system and gives you a new one, it doesn’t mean the old one was no longer good, it just means He’s chosen a new of guiding and providing.

When God makes you a promise He always keeps it, but you have to be willing to remove the steering wheel of your reliance from people. In the wilderness the Israelites griped and bellyached for the comfort of the familiar, even though it meant going back to an old season that was over.(You need to know when certain season is over in your life). But they could not and neither can you! When God said ‘increase…and possess the land’, His plan for them was to move beyond surviving to thriving. It meant been weaned off breast milk of people dependence and on to the meat of God dependence. Apostle Paul said ‘we are not sufficient of ourselves…but our sufficiency is from God (2Cor3:5). When God pushes you out of your comfort zone enroute to your destiny, expect to go from just surviving to thriving!

WORD CONFESSION

I am evidence that Jesus Christ is alive and is at work. Today I declare that as I go into this day God will make all grace to abound towards me, I have all sufficiency of all things. I am enriched in all things and all ways. My needs are supplied according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen !
