TOPIC:  INHERITING THE PROMISE THROUGH PATIENCE

TEXT:   For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise (Hebrews 10:36).

Change is normal and constant to life. But some changes don’t happen in a dramatic fashion. It will require lots of patience. The promises of God are meant to change us from level to another but biblical change require patience, longsuffering and endurance. It is the ability to be uncomfortable and put under intense pressure, yet refusing to waver. Special Forces in the military are put in combat drill situations, teaching them how to endure adverse situations. They are taught mental and physical endurance that exceeds the endurance capacity of the average person.
Biblical patience doesn't mean remaining smiley after the fifth red traffic light when we are already late to work! No, it’s talking about not giving up our beliefs even when severely tempted to do so. It means not diverting from godly principles in the midst of rampant deception and compromise. It believes Bible promises in spite of those who water them down. It means believing in going to church even when friends are embracing and pressuring yoy to embrace other alternatives  to God. The apostle John warns the seven churches of Revelation that it is those who keep God’s principles to the end that will be rewarded (see Rev. 2:11,17,26; 3:5,12,21). Patience is committed endurance that doesn't give in to shortcuts, but rather reaches for the prize in the midst of pressure to quit. The apostle Paul reminds us to press in for the prize of our high calling (see Phil. 3:14). Press in today and let patience promote you!
