LIGHT FOR THE WAY
(Daily Devotional)
"For this purpose the son if God was made manifest" (1Jn 3:8).
THE POWER OF PURPOSE 3
Apostle Paul was one person we can say fulfilled his God given purpose. He was a man on a mission. He travelled light, practiced discipline, avoided distractions and kept his eyes on the ball, "...this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press towards the goal...(Phil.3:13-14 NKJV). Successful organizations live by mission statements that each member on the team can understand. They keep it before them all the time. God told Prophet Habakuk,"...write the vision and make it plain...that they may run that reads it (Hab.2:2). You must write your mission statement down and read it regularly, remember it at all times and run with it. Your greatest enemy is not opposition, your greatest enemy is distractions. Its keeping your eyes off what's not important. The story was told of a soldier who was captured by the Roman army. The Roman emperor always use the prisoners of war for sports. On one of such occasions, the prisoner was given a spoonful of water, with the instruction that if he drops an ounce of the water he will be killed instantly. And on each side of the amphitheatre is a crowd cheering him on and at the other side is a another crowd jeering at him. At last, the soldier made it. He was asked how he was able to achieve such a feat, and which group among the crowd helped him the most. He answered ,'none'. He said at that point his life was in that spoonful of water and that was mattered throughout the race. Hello friend, guard against distractions either from those hailing you or hating you, they might be carrying out their purpose, but dont let them stop you from carrying out yours
